American Silver Eagle Mintage
The American Silver Eagle has been minted from 1986 to present. During the period of issuance, mintages have varied widely based on the prevailing demand for precious metals bullion coins. This has led some years to have extremely low mintages, while others have high mintages.
From a collectible and numismatic standpoint, the coins which had the lowest mintages are more desirable due to their relative rarity. The lowest mintage year for the Silver Eagle bullion coin occurred in 1996 when just 3,603,386 coins were minted. This compares mintages of over 20 million for recent years.
